Has anyone been able to get listening mode to work? Meaning, you just get the audio, no English/Japanese unless you show hints. I know there’s a “Listening Mode” toggle under General Settings, but it doesn’t do anything for me.
Can one of of the admins please respond to this? My original post was from a year ago, this actually still doesn’t work for me. To be clear I’m talking about this function:
I would expect this means that the review screen only shows an audio bar, not the Japanese text. This works for me as expected in cram sessions actually, but not in review.
You can set your review question type by going to the Settings page and then going to the Reviews tab. From there, you can update the question type for grammar and vocab reviews. You can also adjust the settings for individual decks from their relevant pages.
The ‘Listening Mode’ setting in your screenshot is meant for blurring Japanese text in example sentences, such as the ones found on the grammar write-up pages. This is for users who want to listen to example sentences before reading them.
Thanks for the quick response James. I now understand the screenshot I took before doesn’t relate to what I’m looking for.
However, looking at the reviews tab on the settings page, I also do not see anything for listening mode. This is what I see:
On the deck-specific settings, I also don’t see anything that indicates it would give me a listening mode:
Again appreciate your help on this.
Hi, @Curnan2
Sorry for the confusion. Listening as a question type outside of Cram is currently not available, although it is something we have considered internally before. I’ve edited my initial response to be clearer as well.
In the meantime, you can use the listening question type with the Cram practice tool if you want use Bunpro sentences for listening practice!
@JamesBunpro , thanks OK that makes sense. Yeah I do think it’d be a nice feature to have, hopefully not too hard to implement since you already have it for cram. Cheers,
