I’m doing a review and the word ロンドン sounds like it’s saying “dondo” , however I think it’s meant to sound like “rondon”. Is the pronunciation off? Or is it just me?

The japanese R sound is closer to a mixture of R + L. So London sounds like Rondon and vice versa.

I heard whatever I was listening for. If I was listening to see if it sounded like dondon, that’s what I heard. But if I thought it would say rondon, I could hear the ro clearly

Definitely sounds like ロンドン to me for this one. Both the male and female. Im usually pretty trigger happy with replacing audio that sounds incorrect too

I don’t blame you as the pronounciation difference between ろ/ロ and ど/ﾄﾞis the “tongue tapping sound at the gum ridge” for ろ/ロ vs. “stopping air flow at the gum ridge, before doing a sudden release of air” for ど/ﾄﾞ.
More technically, it’s called Voiced Alveolar Tap for ろ/ロ and Voiced Alveolar Stop for ど/ﾄﾞ. You’ll notice that the Japanese R will sound quite close to the D sound due to the “tongue tap”.
