Is there a way isolate grammar level (Beginner, Adept, Seasoned etc) between different decks?

So when I’ve been doing grammar practice on Bunpro I generally just see if I can recognize the grammer and if I can I’ll mark it correct, I don’t really look at the example sentence as a whole.

Because of this and some other reasons I wanna make a separate deck, basically as a kind of reset, in order to practice understanding full sentence with the related grammar point whilst also using it as a chance to practice output by shadowing, this is all to basically concrete my understanding of every grammar point.

However, when I went to go make a new deck it seems that the grammar points level of understanding is shared across decks, is there anyway to isolate them between decks? Otherwise I’m gonna have to make a separate anki deck which would take ages to make.

Hmmm sounds like you could do something similar using Cram?
Because yes, as you mentioned, Progress with Vocab/Grammar is shared across Decks (by design).

Could look something like:

  1. Make a Deck with your troubled Grammar Points
  2. Add it to your Learn Queue
  3. Set the Daily Goal to zero
  4. Cram from it, using the Learning tab in the “Set up your Cram” step

This way your Cram sessions wont affect/relating to your normal Reviews!

Related feature request(s) here that might help:

Goal is to add additional study, but want it to be more than a single cram session. Want to have this study be in a different format than regular study. I find myself not using the cram feature because it’s too unstructured.

Idea 1: Bulk add ghosts from decks / sections / crams / wherever. By bulk adding ghosts, can get random sentences for certain kinds of reviews and review them on the 4 levels of ghost SRS. Just spin up ghosts after a cram session rather than doing them one by one.

Downside - ghosts follow the review of the item, don’t want to mess with the main item if it’s not mastered.

Idea 2: “SRS Cram”. Add an “SRS” option to cram sessions that allow them to follow 4 levels of SRS, similar to ghost reviews. Adding a bit of automated structure to multi-day crams could be more effective.

In the end I just ended up making a new bunpro account, my main one has a lifetime subscription so I’m not too fussed to pay 8 Aud a month on a separate account to save a hell of a lot of time and hassle.

Thanks for the additional support!

Out of curiosity, what about Cram doesn’t fill the void for you?

Well the reason I’m doing this is because I didn’t really pay attention to how grammar is used in the example sentences when I was learning grammar in Bunpro, I kind of just tried to see if I could recognise it and guess the meaning, which is fine but I feel like I only half under stand a lot of grammar points.

So doing a semi reset means I can track how well I understand grammar when its actually used in sentences, the cram function would be too disorganised for this because I don’t even know which grammar points I’m struggling with, but I know there are quite a few, and I also want to be able to track how I’m going. The cram function for me I would only use if I knew exactly what I wanted to study and I just wanted to do a little bit extra, I wouldn’t use it for a whole study routine, pulling in the grammar points every time would be too tedious.

I did this for a time too.
It was beneficial to have two separate tracks for grammar.

  1. Recognition and understanding in a sentence. Do I remember what the grammar point means?
  2. Understanding when and how to use in sentences by using the typed responses option. Do I remember how to use it properly? (Especially with things like properly adding の and な to sentences and structures like のに that I avoided using in regular conversation because I wasn’t sure how to use them properly.)

I don’t envy the task of putting something like that into the system that you already have, though. I love what you guys have created here already and love the new features you keep on adding.
