Is there a way to adjust an item's Stage during Learn?

There are some words I’ll know in a vocabulary deck that I haven’t mastered, but I at least know and don’t want to count as “new” for my daily goal. I’ve seen mentions of shortcut keys to mark items as Mastered, but most of the words I still want to review, I just don’t want them to count as “new”. I also use the app pretty much exclusively, so I can’t use the shortcut keys.

I know Renshuu will let you mark items as known during new lessons and then will automatically give you a new card if you mark it at the beginning of the lesson batch. We already have the Progress bar on individual vocab, I’m just not sure how difficult that would be to integrate into the Lesson function to modify during the Lesson batch screen - or if it already exists and I just don’t know how to do it

There is no way to do it in the actual lesson as far as I can tell. Perhaps @Sean knows better in this regard or could add the option to set the SRS level directly in lessons instead of just the mark as mastered option.

However, after an item has been added to your reviews you can open its page either from the deck or just open the info for the item when you see it in reviews (shortcut f on keyboard, or just selecting the info button on the app/mobile) and you will see this option on the right hand side where you can directly adjust the SRS level. Until the option is added to lessons this should work albeit a bit tedious.

edit- scratch that, at the review portion at the end of the lesson, you can open the information for the item in the same way mentioned before and then you can select the option to add the item to your reviews found in the first screenshot. That should then let you directly modify the SRS level for each of the items from the lesson.

Ah, I guess this is a PC/Website version exclusive then!

During the lessons in the bottom right on the app, you can pull up a menu on the side, but it still only allows you to Mark As Mastered.

I don’t mind marking them one at a time in Lessons as I come across them, it’s moreso that I either have to get out of the Lessons on the app to add it to Reviews directly in the deck or have it count as my Daily number of new items per day by waiting until the middle/end of the Lesson since only Mastered is currently available :sweat_smile:

Thank you so much for you help! Guess it’s just a matter of waiting until it’s added for the app!

are you using android or ios? when I check your screenshot it seems like you still havent entered the review part of the lesson (after you’ve hit next and reached your lesson limit). I checked this on my ios app and the same applies, you first learn the 3 items and then at the very end you are quizzed on them. After inputting the correct answer you can then find the option to add to reviews under the info menu. Once that is done you can then change the level under the option labeled progress. I forgot to screen shot the process of changing SRS level, but you just click the block you want it at 1 is beginner 1 and 12 is mastered with the remaining levels in between. It will ask you for confirmation before you set it so you’ll know what you changed it to.

Potentially not what you want, but:

If you want to set all items in a Deck at a certain level after you Learn them, you can change this in the Deck Settings from the Dashboard:

Does the Deck Setting option work for you?

If not, and you want to do this manually for each specific item, then unfortunately it’s not possible at the moment.
Let me know though, it is in our Kanban system as a to-do, and has been there for a while.
Can bump the priority if it’s something the users want.

Hello! I need to do it manually just because my vocabulary is a bit all over the place. I’d go through the decks and mass change them, but I’d prefer to just flag them as I’m completing the decks since it takes a while.

I don’t have issues with the SRS being slow in the beginning, so having them all set higher isn’t really right for me :+1:

Oh, I see what you’re showing, yep this’ll add it to reviews - adding it from here still effects the Lesson Count though! You also have to actually wait for it to come through during the review to go back to the same page to change it - less important but definitely tedious/not fun long term. Since the app still marks it as part of my daily goal of I toggle it during Lessons, it doesn’t really fix me having to go out and do it from the deck tab itself :sweat_smile:

Since you’re looking to see if that choosable-srs feature should be bumped up in priority, i’ll chime in here to say that it would be really nice to be able to set the srs stage within the lessons themselves (without jumping thru hoops etc)

Anyone else thinking the same? Or is it a pretty niche request? :eyes:

I’m thinking it’d be especially useful for folks that are coming back to bunpro (or joining it) with a very scattered knowledge. I enjoy putting things into seasoned/expert ‘just in case’, instead of just marking them as mastered… but it is a lil bit of a hassle currently :laughing:
