Is this an awkward example?

I feel like the way this example is worded is very awkward (The english translation) . I understand what it means but it almost reads as “Instead of solving me, can you solve this problem”. Maybe, I’m the only one but I feel like “Instead of me, can you solve this problem?” would be a little more clear?

I think the translation is fine. Your suggested translation changes the original meaning to a question instead of “please do…”.
