I never use the undo button, but I notice the number of reviews I have has been getting arduous recently.
Should I be using the undo button more?

I use my undo button freely, especially since I end up with a lot of typos. Itâs basically giving you an in between of fill in the blank and reveal and grade. Your score on bunpro literally matters to no one but yourself, and even then it doesnât really matter that much, as you are using bunpro to learn japanese, as long as that is happening, there arenât to many âwrongâ ways of doing things.
I would be honest though, if the point is important and you always get it wrong. donât undo just because youâre annoyed you keep getting it wrong.
If your number of reviews is getting too high, Iâd lower the number of new stuff you are learning first. Thereâs also ways of lowering the frequency ghosts are generated, but since I use the undo button liberally, if I earn a ghost, I earn a ghost. But if you arenât doing that, you may want to look into adjusting that.
I donât care about the level. I just wonder if Iâm reducing the educational value by using the undo button rather than enduring more reviews.
I donât know how long you have been using bunpro but you should progressively develop a sense of how the SRS levels coincide with your needs as it just acts as a frequency parameter.
the higher you climb the ladder the less youâll see the question pop-up which is sometimes not desirable, the brain is not that simple.
For me, in case of a wrong answer, I consider as much how I estimate my knowledge to actually be and always look what the level is as well before making a final call.
I sometimes intentionally fail answers if I see the level a bit high and want to see this question more often (I even sometimes adjust the levels 3/4 steps down), I sometimes level up an answer I failed for some reason despite being simple too.
Basically playing with the levels rather than letting them have too much control and ending up feeling unaligned, itâs just a tool and the SRS is very imperfect.
I undo if I think âYeah, thatâs exactly what I typed, what the hellâ.
Sometimes, if I feel the SRS level does not reflect my actual knowledge, I adjust it manually
Yes, please use the undo button often and freely. Be nice on yourself â Bunpro is a tool for language learning, itâs not an end in and of itself. And the structure of Bunpro â 10 sentences per point with different nuances some of which are obscure or not commonly taught, encourages experimentation and flexibility and not rigid 1-to-1 question-to-answer learning. Youâll learn better this way, I promise.
Yeah, I think I will use the undo button more often. I suppose I will solidify the grammar points more from immersion.
