Hello! So Re-re-re-re… sigh you get the idea. Starting.
I’m trying a slow(ish) take this time around. Do a vocab lesson, get it to Adept, do another, repeat, stop adding new stuff if I begin to feel overwhelmed. I can already hear the burnout bros typing lol
Once I finish N5 vocab, will switch to N5 grammar a lot of which seems to have been included with the vocab lol.
The burnout bros sometimes even type posts out and then delete them so you can be sure to see their demotivational post without it actually staying for many others to see as well.
You should do what feels good for you, and if you find that you’re not satisfied with your pace, just cram as much content in as you like (or vis-versa). Does it really matter how others feel is the best way to go about it if what really matters is that you enjoy yourself in your endeavor?
This sounds like a persecution complex. If you want “Burnout Bros” to come to your threads, these posts are a great way to rally people against you.
Most people on this forum only take passing interest in other people’s language journeys and come to either give feedback or get inspired. You’d be hard pressed to find someone who deeply cares about someone’s success or failure, unless the creator of the thread makes it a point to go out of their way to demonize people who are either trying to give advice, or preemptively before they even post.
“If you already see me as a monster, why should I try to prove my goodness to you?”
You’re just alienating people.
I don’t know how many times you’ve started your learning journey, but life sometimes gets in the way of our plans. Good luck, and always try new methods of learning until one sticks.
Anyway, I’m happy to see another one intentionally taking it slow and hopefully stress-free here
Since you restarted, you are probably already N5 or above, just forgot a bit, right? Do you do anything else besides bunpro reviews? If you already had trouble losing motivation once, maybe you could profit by finding something japanese related that you enjoy?
Sorry for the late reply. Just a term for the people that always say “you’ll burn out” if you have a pace faster than theirs. I’m sure you’ve seen it with any speed runner, or anyone moving faster than normal or who has more than an hour a day to spend studying, etc.
Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast. Ironically I’m actually moving faster this go around, but it could be because…
…oh yes I know some N5 words. Right now I also study on Nihongo Master, and using Japanese from Zero. Tried other stuff and plan to restart Pimsluer for speaking practice.
A lot of video games, anime, light novels, other novels, and religious/philosophical materials.
