For the Nintendo Switch, I just play in Japanese, my account is set to Japan. That was until recently: I gave my Switch away (oohh well).
Disgaea 5 (played it in English first), Disgaea 6 and Disgaea 7 were my initial targets.
Atelier Ryza 1, 2 and 3 I just played them in Japanese.

Disgaea uses lots of Katakana, it was a lot of fun haha.
I did try Monster Hunter and some other RPG games. For the most part I did play on the easiest difficulty as I just assumed that I will miss out some important mechanic haha

That happened to me in Youkai watch. I wasn’t sure how much of the tutorials I had understood so I watched a playthrough of the start of the game in English and found I had missed at least one core mechanic of the combat system.
