JLPT December 2025

Do you like filling in blobs?

Are you part of an online Japanese grammar community?! :hushed:

Do you like listening to people talking about going for a walk because the weather is good?!?!! :exploding_head:

Then better clear your calendar for the first Sunday in December 2025! :tada:

Passed N3 last year dec, not sure if I’ll sit this years N2.

Still only learn from anime and don’t intend to change that. Went mostly blind into N3 and had a good result but could definitely feel even if I understood what I was reading that my reading speed was slow.

Knowing that N2 unlike the previous intentionally tries to trip you up might waste even more time as I’ll have to re-read most likely.

Hoping to hit N3 this winter. Been Slackin on my Kanji though and my listening is out right horrible. But Ganbare

Tentatively planning on N2, but I’m worried about my kanji and vocabulary being at a passable level in time…

Taking the N3 this time. Don’t know if I’ll actually have the necessary level by then, but shooting for a higher goal has always helped me with motivation

I hope I won’t be on December on the JLPT. Because that will mean I passed N5 on July.
With the time I can study everyday I’m sure I won’t know enough to pass N4 in 6 months. But if I didn’t pass N5 (for the second time) I’m not sure what I will do on December.

I’m going for N4!

I passed N5 in December, 2023, but failed N4 in December 2024.
I got an A in all sections, but I didn’t get enough overall points.

2024 was an intense year because of parenting, work, and Japanese studies, so I’d decided to make 2025 a slow year.
I kept up my reviews, but I decreased the number of new SRS cards to near-zero, but instead I focussed more on reading, which was a nice change of pace.
Now, everything under level 13 on Learn Natively feels easy, which has been an amazing achievement.

I feel that I’ve solidified my knowledge, but not extended it, so I’m still concerned that I won’t make N4 in December.
Vocabulary is still my biggest hurdle.

I wish you all the best in your studies and the test to come.

I’ll be taking the N3! I was originally going to take the N4, but my online tutor believes with some practice I can make N3. Judging by how I’m doing on the textbooks so far it’s going to be tough, but I think I can do it.

皆さん、一緒に頑張りましょう!
少しずつ少しずつ、だんだんペラペラになります!

I’ll try doing N3 this year! Last year the N4 test went well, so I hope I’ll be able to pass this year too \o/

(Deleted my previous post because I didn’t mean to reply to a specific person, just the whole thread)

My Learning Japanese one year anniversary is in August of this year and I have a two year goal to pass the N3 (in preparation of my wife and I are planning to visit Japan in 2027).

I would say, overall, I’m somewhere between N5 and N4 right now. I’m just about done with working through Genki I with a native tutor, at WaniKani lvl 31 (so all N5 & N4 Kanji known), and finished (at least seasoned rank) Bunpro grammar for N5 and N4.

About two months ago I switched from the Bunpro N4 Vocab to Core 2k, but I could easily swap back to N4 Vocab and finish that before December.

I can’t decide whether I should sign up for the N5 for a better chance of passing or push hard and try for the N4 with the thought that I would probably fail but it would be a good experience for what the whole exam process is like in prep for the N3 exam next year.

I think I should probably try an N5 practice exam online to see how it goes… I’ve been thinking about the one at MaruMori.

If anyone has advice (or a reality check ) I’m open to it.
Thanks!

I have no faith I passed the N3 listening, so I plan to take it in December, aiming for N2 next July!

Man you’d crush the N5 at this point. Really up to you to push for N4 but totally possible. At least do one of them for practice before N3.

You can also try migii to get more practice on the exam and add this to your routine, this helped me solidify my knowledge (and my confidence) on jlpt focused exercices.
don’t learn anything from migii though (bunpro lessons are better explained), only use it for practicing jlpt
migii is known to be a bit harder than the real exam so take that into account

Planning to take the N2 “for real” this time and actually study.
IF and that is a huge IF, I can do an hour or so per day from now on until application day (some point in August / September), I will apply… otherwise will not lol…
