JLPT Exam Fonts

Hello friends (人´∀`).☆.。.:*・゚

Does anyone know what fonts do the JLPT papers use? I am going to be sitting the N4 in two weeks. It is my first time sitting the JLPT.

I have learnt most of my Japanese from watching TV and have only been studying on Wanikani and Bunpro since the summer.

For the mock exams I was consistently averaging in the 80% (100% for listening), so I was feeling somewhat confident.

But I decided to buy the N4 official mock exam paper from 2018 and realised a crucial error in my approach. My reading speed is much slower when the kanji are written in a serif font, it makes my reading 20-30% slower since I have only ever studied on my phone…

So my question is if the official JLPT exam uses the serif fonts? And if so what can I do in the next two weeks to get ready (´°̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥ω°̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥`)

Yes, I remember having exactly the same experience.
Unfortunately, the old school font used in the exams is by my reckoning the same as the font used in the official practice tests, though some questions may include some different fonts.

I believe the main font used is something similar to the one linked below, though I don’t think it’s exactly the same.
However, on this link, you can copy any Japanese text and paste it into the “Type and Try” box, then press Enter to see how the text looks in the font, and enjoy practising reading and getting more used to that kind of font
