魔女の宅急便 (Kiki's Delivery Service) Deck

Hello!

With the new deck feature launching at the same time as me starting my extremely thorough read-through of my copy of Kiki’s Delivery Service, I decided to convert all my text analyses into an easy-to-go-through deck that gives you every single required vocabulary or grammar point that is above N4 or higher.

I used to have a very difficult time starting with reading Japanese, and I believe that a deck like this could have really helped me back in the day. I’ve started reading way too late due to getting stuck on parts and spending way too much time figuring out what the sentences were actually saying, by the time I figured it out, I was completely fed up with reading and had to give myself something else to do.

I’m hoping that by doing this, people can confidently start this book without being afraid of getting stuck or not understanding some of the grammar or words that they encounter, and helping them to go through the pages with as little breaks in the story as possible.

I currently have the deck on the review for publishing it with its first chapter being completely finished, so it should hopefully also be available in the deck overview soon, but if you want a sneak-peek, you can find it through the link above!

I also have a thread on the Wanikani forums where I very thoroughly dissect every single sentence in the book, so if you’re struggling with a sentence, you can take a peak over here.

If you have any comments or improvement suggestions for the deck, be sure to comment below

Super cool!

I have one piece of feedback though, if that’s okay. I noticed there are quite a few items in there that are listed as A/E or unclassified vocab, but which Bunpro has corresponding grammar points for. May be helpful to update those to point to the grammar point instead so people seeing it for the first time can access a more in-depth explanation and example sentences.

I’m happy to help point them out and link to the grammar point too, just let me know!

Otherwise, looks great. Thanks for putting this together!

I tried to avoid it, but there might still be some of those at the start, when I didn’t know that grammar was not in the import search function list. I’m planning on going through it at a later point as well, so if you already have a few you can point out, that would be great. Some of them I already know are things like ように as a vocab, even though I also have ように as a grammar point as well.

It would be great if there was some functionality that has a grammar point suggestion in the Import Search Function as well, as I had to separately add grammar points by searching them up and then adding them with the Deck addition button on a separate page outside of the Deck Creation UI.

Another cool functionality could maybe even be one that has some suggestions that ask for removal of items that are effectively repeats, or that suggests related grammar points to some of the vocab in a deck.
