Mini KanjiStudy inside Bunpro?

Hello everyone!
I’ve been thinking recently on an optional feature that would be super useful to the typical bunpro learner if they want to know how to write X kanji (like 強、文、全 and so on)

So my idea is like on vocabulary decks, what could the staff do is they implement a new tab (just like the defintion tab and the example sentences tab, or a div if you prefer) where you find the kanjis contained on the word you’re learning and you begin to write them, to get the stroke order, just like a mini KanjiStudy ー but inside Bunpro

And those kanjis you learn you’ll find them on the SRS to practice them until you’re good with that said kanji.

I just wanna point out that this would be entirely optional, on the kanjis YOU want to learn to write, because if you start to learn ALL the kanji writing out there you’ll just be crushed by reviews. And the feature would be mainly on the mobile version, cuz let’s be honest drawing a kanji with your mouse isn’t very effective to be honest

i noticed the wanikani picture, and i wanted to add this. i too use the app, and am very pleased with tofugu. i connected wanikani to bunpro today, using the api key. well the bunpro came alive for me, everything i’ve been learning on wanikani, is now available in my reviews here. difference being, now i’m not seeing the kanji first, so i have to remember the spelling, etc. a whole new angle. this way i’ll know for certain what i’ve learned or just recognized. fun and entertaining

we already have wanikani for that. you can also use kanji study app if you have android

i do I actually paid 10 bucks to import all the kanjis into KS each group divided by the level they’re in but I just thought this would be a cool feature
but anyway Wanikani doesn’t teach you how to write the kanji do they?

@GrammarMaster809 I wanted the same thing so I built an app for it. It is called Nazoru and you can find it on the Play Store for Android or the App Store for iOS. It connects to your Bunpro account using the public api (you can get it on Bunpro’s settings) and suggests for you to practice the kanji contained in the words you’ve recently studied.

Could be a nice addition but I am afraid it starts to go to far away from grammar and divert the ressource for the core of Bunpro.
I use an app called JA Sensei for writting Kanji (and lots of other things) but I definitely wouldn’t mind a kanji writting section in Bunpro :slight_smile:

Kanji learning on Bunpro would be incredible. It’s not something I’m expecting soon, but rather something I fanatically dream of.

The addition of vocab on Bunpro has already proved to be such a rich addition, with decks to learn from and numerous example sentences and fill-in exercises, and it has huge potential to tie into the content that was already there. The vocab coverage widget is a great example of it–really hoping to see that widget on the reading practice stories and Topics as well. It’s perfect for that.

The addition of Kanji learning would be the icing on the cake. I’m imagining the option to click through to a kanji when highlighting a kanji on a vocab or grammar page, and well as being able to add kanji to your learn queue and having curated learning decks just like the grammar and vocab decks.

Tbh the writing practice wouldn’t be top priority for me, but I do agree that it’d be a nice-to-have. I think it’d be okay to have that feature on pc as well. It may be a bit niche, but there are tablet PCs, PCs with touch screens and people with art tablets (myself :wink: ) who can use a pen on their pc, so there are plenty of options. And even then I might also like just using my mouse at times.

1000% agreeing with you I guess some could do that with community decks but adding all the Jōyos would be a bit tiring lmao so I’m not expecting that soon too

Oh, and to add, I’m not too big a fan of WK’s forced path. I love how Bunpro is your best learning wingman and lets you add and learn everything and anything you want, in the order you want. Bunpro’s freedom is so great. So I’d love to be able to add kanji I come across in the wild and start learning it whenever I want.
