Nice newish word

I read a new word recently, that many of us are now experiencing in the summer.

酷暑日
こくしょび
cruel heat day

The word already existed, but apparently the Japanese meteorological agency is now using this to mean a day above 40C, or 104F.

I don’t see the article online about it now, but it is a nice not-nice word. Japan is now getting these days on a yearly basis.

I feel like I read somewhere that the word originally referred to days where the wet bulb temperature temperature exceeded 35C (I.e. was fatal to remain outdoors) but somehow that got telephone-gamed into just a meaning a very hot day. So I guess be on the lookout for another new word when wet bulb temps start hitting 35C.
