i get answers wrong but Bunpro doesn’t give me the right answer when this happens. it just leaves me wondering.

Typing “a” doesn’t work if you’re using the alternate Japanese keyboard. Stay with the English keyboard and all the functions work (“a”, “f”, spacebar).
In other words, type “a” not “あ”.
On phone, tapping the “click here or press a” line also works just fine to show the right answer for me. ^^
