Imo Mochi 芋餅
This snack is made by mixing puffed sweet potato with flour and sugar. This is then dried and deep-fried to form a snack with a fragrant surface and a fluffy centre.
Kurumabu 車麩
This popular food gets its name from the fact that it resembles a car wheel. Dough is wrapped around a stick and baked, then gluten is added and it is baked again. It is popular with eggs, in stews, in oden, and as sukiyaki.
Mitten Crab モクズガニ
This crab is a Niigata delicacy and has a distinct sweet taste, more so than other crabs. Female crabs are particularly prized due to their developed ovaries. It can be eaten as it is, directly from the shell, or added to soups to give a unique taste.
