OK, we made it to Nagasaki, and I’m here posting at 4am because my jet lag isn’t fixed yet and my body keeps waking me up in UK time…

Nagasaki Champon 長崎ちゃんぽん
If you go to Nagasaki, Japanese people are guaranteed to ask you if you had its famous champon. It’s essentially a ramen dish, but unlike most ramen, it’s all cooked together - the noodles are boiled in the soup. It is made with a creamy tonkotsu soup (made from pig bones boiled over a long period of time) and fried pork and vegetables.
Sasebo Burger 佐世保バーガー
A Sasebo burger doesn’t refer to one particular recipe of burger, but rather to the fact that in Sasebo City in Nagasaki Prefecture, each and every burger is freshly handmade to order. They have become so popular that they now have their own mascot character and theme tune! They come in so many different varieties from many different shops and restaurants, so this is a must-try for burger lovers.
Turkish Rice トルコライス
This dish is known as an ‘adult kids’ meal because rice and spaghetti are served on the same plate, along with a pork cutlet and sauces both to suit the spaghetti and the pork. Despite the name, it bears little resemblance to actual Turkish cuisine, since Turkey is a Muslim country and pork is hardly eaten there.
