Polar Bear Ice 白熊
This icy treat is made by pouring milk on top of shaved ice, and then arranging fruits and other colourful toppings on top to make the face of a polar bear. Ingredients include cherries, pineapple, sweet red beans, raisins and mandarin oranges.
Keihan 鶏飯
This unique chicken dish is a mixture of sweet and savoury. Chicken, omelette and shiitake mushrooms are placed alongside papaya and mandarin orange peel in a bowl of rice. Soup made from chicken bones is then poured over the mixture to make a dish full of flavour!
Car Shrimp 車海老
I hope you like that translation. The name of this Kagoshima speciality comes from the fact that this shrimp has stripes that look like wheels on its belly. In cooking, it is used much the same way as other kinds of shrimp, like in tempura and sashimi dishes.

OK, so we’ve finished our train journeys! Now we need a plane ticket to get to Naha, the capital of Japan’s tropical island chain, Okinawa Prefecture. The cheapest one I could find when I first wrote the race was 11,000 yen, so let’s go with that, making our final target 253,360.
