140 459 (community total) + 40 (my reviews) = 140 499
149 499 (community total) + 10 (my reviews) = 149509
Hm, I think we just skipped 9000. We are actually at 140 509, I guess.
140 509 (community total) + 34 (my reviews) = 140 543
140 543 (community total) + 6 + 7 + 16 + 6 + 16 (my reviews) = 140 594
140 594 (community total) + 78 (my reviews) = 140 672
Combined this weekend’s reviews, since somehow I managed to avoid slacking despite hitting up Tokyo Game Show
140 672 (community total) + 95 (my reviews) = 140 767
140 767 (community total) + 20 (my reviews) = 140 787
140 787 (community total) + 4 (my reviews) = 140 791
140 791 (community total) + 3 (my reviews) = 140 794
140 794 (community total) + 9 (my reviews) = 140 803
140 803 (community total) + 30 (my reviews) = 140 833
140 833 (community total) + 12 (my reviews) = 140 845.
I checked the community total more closely this time.
140 845 (community total) + 184 (my reviews) = 141 029
141 029 (community total) + 237 (my reviews) = 141 266
141 266 (community total) + 36 (my reviews) = 141 302 (new total)
OK, we made it to Kagawa Prefecture. Welcome to the island of Shikoku!
Kagawa Prefecture
Sanuki Udon 讃岐うどん
From personal experience, I can tell you that if you tell any Japanese person that you have been to Kagawa Prefecture, the first word that will leave their lips is “UDON!!” These are objectively (feel free to prove me wrong) the most delicious noodles in Japan. A unique shape, they have corners, almost like a square tube. They are served as they are and dipped into a dashi (thin fish sauce, more like a soup); also, they go very well with tempura.
Mochi Zoni あんもち雑煮
A zoni is a miso soup eaten to celebrate New Year, with various things including mochi, another food associated with New Year. This one, famous in Kagawa Prefecture, is famous for also having sweet red bean paste in, for a unique, sweet taste. It is also famous for its white colour, since it is made with a white miso.
Olives オリーブ
Not a great deal to say about this one since we all know what olives are, but they were imported to Japan from Europe in the Meiji and Edo periods and the olive plant has since become the emblem of Kagawa Prefecture. It is also the official tree of the prefecture… Yes, I know prefectures have an official everything, I didn’t know about the prefectural tree thing until I was researching for this article but hey ho there you go…
Next stop: Tokushima! It’s 3,400 yen to get there, so our new target is 144,670.
141 302 (community total) + 21 (my reviews) = 141 323
141 323 (community total) + 44 (my reviews) = 141 367
