I chose the polite form and it was marked as wrong. Sometimes Bunpro indicates when they are looking for the polite form. If there is no indication, should I choose the casual form? I guess my answer is wrong because it’s unnatural rather than incorrect but it’s just a guess. Can someone enlighten me? Thanks in advance.
yeah, you don’t really use polite form with your wife (unless you like the sofa.) The rest of the sentence seems correct to me. There probably should have been a heads up, but my guess is using polite form then the following phrase starting with ただ and ending with 無いから is very inconsistent with polite forms.
Basically yeah you’re right, it’s just unnatural to use polite form in this case.

Generally speaking, if it doesn’t specify the “polite” tag above the question/example, I assume it means casual.
And as above, there’s usually context clues such as other casual/polite conjugations in the example that you can pick up on.
