In this one, one hint is “polite” so I used the polite form ありません. To be honest it didn’t feel natural, and I only used it because of the hint. Can someone explain the “polite” aspect of this for me?

This looks like an input error on our end. I’ve gone ahead and updated it.
As you can see in the nuance hint (the hint below the sentence), the grammar point itself is most often used in politer situations (business, etc), however you’re right in thinking that the tense hint (the hint above the sentence) shouldn’t say ‘polite’ as we were looking for the standard form in this specific instance.

I wouldn’t think so. Both polite and not polite are used, and in this case polite doesn’t sound out of place to me. 
Edit: unless I misunderstood your question and you’re asking if informal should be accepted
The informal was marked as the correct answer. 差し支えありません was not accepted.
