Prefix/suffix questions on N2 and how to improve?

Hello! I’m studying for N2 and I noticed the questions that ask you to choose the correct prefix/suffix is particularly hard for me. I know in the long term, the real way to improve is more reading, vocabulary exposure, etc, but in the short term I have about 2 weeks until the exam so…
Does anyone have any particular tips or resources to help with that part?
Thank you!

I’m also studying for N2 and I was in the exact same boat as you a couple weeks ago! A few things that have helped me immensely in a very short amount of time, and I hope it’ll be helpful for you too!

Please try to find pages 166-177 in Shin Kanzen Master N2, there’s a huge masterlist for both prefixes and suffixes – I’ve done a lot of review questions since then and almost all of them appeared on these lists somewhere, so as long as you can remember them, it’s an extremely solid foundation!

This YouTube channel was really helpful for explaining the logic behind the answers and why certain pre- and suffixes are used in specific case, which helped me get a natural “feel” for what sounds right, even for novel questions. I just put 5 videos but she has a lot more that cover them too.

And I’ve been using these videos for question review:

And just working through questions I find in mock tests, it’s gotten a lot easier since then! Good luck, and I hope it’s useful!

I dont know if youve looked at them, and I dont have the second book yet so maybe taking a look might be good and even expand more upon it. But Quartet 1, in the back of the book has a lot of little little things including prefixes and suffixes.(among other things) Though its kinda small so it might not help that much, but it does have a couple more questions.

@Special_Guest oh, that sounds good! I don’t have Quartet 1 but maybe I can borrow it from someone

Do you have a photo of that page by any chance?

Gotta switch to mobile for this so the formatting might be a bit wonky so sorry.

First the contents Incase anything else catches y’all’s eye

And then the two pages dealing with pre and suffix.

I think there is a bit more so I’ll take a look through the chapter is supposed to be covering? Which is chapter 3 but I’ll browse the others

I havnt used Quartet much because when I got it, I finally found an actual Japanese Teacher and reset some of my studies to actually go over the problems I had and wasnt understanding and so Im about to finish Genki 2(again) and then Ill move into Quartet. But when I briefly went through Chapter 1 of Quartet, although a tad different teaching the grammer as compared to Genki, it tries to go into depth of the difference between written and spoken grammar, and how to better tell apart a variety of grammar points. But its a bit broken up so its hard to take photos of it. Maybe Ill do a review around the summer when I finish it and compare it to Genki.
