Question about use of 一倍 in sentence in Bunpro

I’m a little confused about the use of 一倍 in the following review sentence I just had:

人一倍努力している。

The translation is “He works twice as hard as others.” Why wouldn’t “twice as” be 二倍 in this sentence? Any insight would be appreciated.

I think that’s answered here:

words - Why is the meaning of人一倍 opposite of what it seems to say? - Japanese Language Stack Exchange

Sometimes 一倍 can mean “double”.

Thanks! That’s very helpful.

I’ve seen 倍々 used before as well , according to a hinative response it mean x2x2. I also saw entries for 倍々ゲーム, which makes me think of pachinko or some double scoring mode…maybe finance (or loan shark, lol). Then I saw it as a joke for ‘bye bye’
