くは – Question

Since this lesson is new, the “join discussion” button I’m used to seeing was instead replaced by “start discussion”. I’ve tried to name this discussion similar to other ones.

I mentioned only two days ago a recurring pattern where the conjugation patterns given in the “structure” part of lesson aren’t always exercised in the examples. This new lesson gives 3 examples:

The first one is admittedly contained in the latter two, but I’m confused what that first one represents by itself, since zero of the examples contain it (i.e. くは not followed by ない or ある). Do such cases exist?
