Reset review but not progress

Hello,

After using bunpro intensively for a few months, I stopped for a few weeks for personnal reasons.

Now I want to get back at it but I have 1600+ review to do… Any new word will get lost forever

I did not about the vacation mode, but I should definitely have activated that.

Is there a way to reset the review queue without losing the progress for each words? I have looked to the settings but I saw nothing of the sort.

Thanks!

The best thing you can do as far as I know is to just stop adding new grammar points/vocab words and just do as many reviews as you can comfortably knock out in a day. It’ll end up calming down.

I suggest sorting your review queue to give you the ones with the highest srs level first. Those won’t be back so soon, so your numbers will go down a bit faster. Downside: they’ll come back on the same day, giving you occasionally higher reviews.

Also, consider turning off “ghosts” in the settings for now, until your review queue calms down again :ghost:

I would defs might start by deleting all Ghosts from the Reset page.

Ok, thank you for the answers and tips!

I guess I will have to do some pretty intensive review sessions then

Here is how I am approaching a similar situation, after getting knocked out by a viral infection for over a month…

(I am assuming that you are using Bunpro in Reading/Reveal&Grade mode)

  1. Set the order of reviews: Ghosts → Regular, and do Descending SRS level
  2. Have ghosts creation ON (I know, it will mean more work, but bear with me)
  3. For now, keep the usual SRS strictness of 1

Now, here is how the reviews go. Blast through the ghosts without much sweat – read the sentence and mark it as correct even if you are not sure. You are going through items that are high on your SRS level, so you should be remembering most of them. If not, then seeing it 5 times over the next few days would definitely remind you of them. Our goal here is to get back on your feet, not to have perfect recall of all those cards. You will see them again in other contexts anyway. For non-ghost cards, answer them truthfully. Many will decrease in SRS level, but since you are seeing them now, it will not create much work for you for the near future.

Do it for a few days/weeks, for as much as you can. Ideally, at least twice a day, so that ghosts get deleted quicker.

Once you are done with all the older cards (Seasoned+), there are a few options. You might increase SRS strictness and start taking ghosts seriously, or you can keep doing what you have been doing so far until the pile is empty. The words you will be seeing at this point are mostly new ones anyway, so you might as well start relearning them.

I got back to actively studying about a week ago, and my pile of ~1300 reviews is at 383 now. It might take another week, since these words are mostly new, but getting close and very excited about getting back on track! So stay dedicated, and you can definitely get there too!
