Resources for Keigo?

Hey all,

I’ve been studying Japanese for over 4 years, live in Japan, and I’m still struggling with keigo. Lately, I’ve also realized that there is still a LOT of keigo I’m not very familiar with/not confident in my ability to use correctly. I’m currently studying for N2 in July so I’ve also been trying to understand things like the differences between similar keigo structures, etc.

What study resources do you recommend for keigo? Are there any websites, apps, youtube channels, textbooks, etc that you swear by for learning and practicing keigo?

Any suggestions are appreciated!!

Good question!

I’ve actually needed to learn Keigo as well for my job.
One that I used a lot, and one that was recommended to me by my Japanese Business Language teacher was this resource!
The NHK website has a lot of videos you can take a look at, and funnily enough the 敬語道場 section they have (on that website) has a bunch of funny and stupid gags, but they work and stick in your head because they keep your attention on it.
You might find these videos etc. a bit simple, but they’re straight to the point and get the point across!

I used this textbook. I’ve also made an Anki deck converting all the “turn this sentence to Keigo” drills. It’s been useful.

Keigo in N2 is only usually 1 grammar question and maybe another vocab question. It might get used in the speaking section too.

thank you for the recommendation! i’ll check it out
