Rest in Peace 359 Day Streak

Yesterday I simply got too busy, and couldn’t manage to keep it up. It’s always sad to see such a nice number erased, but what can we do besides start over again? I’m looking forward to getting it back a year from now, and hopefully won’t forget again just a few days off of a year. In the end, the streak isn’t what matters, but the content you’re learning after all.

What’s your current streak or what’s the biggest one you’ve ever lost?

You were so close to the first 花丸.
I’m at 655 on Bunpro, looking forward to the 700 one and the 720 days studied one for a 二重丸!
Don’t think I’m gonna make it to 1000 though, probably done with Bunpro reviews by then ( ̄^ ̄)ゞ

You know, you could manually set your streak in Bunpro right? It is cheating, sure, but cutting yourself some slack after 359 days is fine!

I lost my first at 99 days, then raged out and didn’t do Bunpro for ages. I’m at 1115 now but I think my fiancee is going to stage an intervention.

I feel like streaks can definitely be double edged swords like this. They can motivate you to continue every day but if you lose it it very much demotivates you. Wanikani doesn’t have a streak system for instance, so the only thing that motivates me to do it besides the desire to learn is seeing the mountain of reviews stacking up.

On the contrary it does now.

I had no idea about this haha, perhaps I should use my eyes more =w=

…a three year streak? You’re telling me you haven’t missed a single day?

I wish I had the same consistency as you.

Possibly those two “offerings” can be used to miss a day and preserve the streak, like on duolingo. Idk though.

In all seriousness though, I’d invite you to take a look back at how much you’ve learned and achieved, not just in Bunpro, over this past almost-year.

That’s the true value of keeping a streak, even if broken! What you’ve learned will always stick with you moving forward.

That’s exactly right, and the offerings replenish after so many days of a kept streak (I believe a week?)

Thank you! I really have learned a lot looking back on where I started. I’m listening to a lot of music lately and I’m finally beginning to understand it a bit, and I don’t want to stop until I can fully understand it, so I’ll push on and keep learning.

Believe it or not its true. It may be approaching a compulsive disorder be this point.
