“Bunpro Remedial Quiz”
- Take the practice JLPT tests (In your case N5/N4)
- If you fail a section, setup a cram for that deck (vocab grammar) or Ken’s Youtube for N5/N4 listening practice
- Create a “remedial review deck” with units based on below
- As you cram, if you get something very wrong, reset the item individually by opening up the info page - once you do this, you can’t go back. (don’t re-add to the review queue yet)
- If you get something wrong, but believe you just need a refresher on it, not a full 18 months of study, add it to your remedial review deck
- Recommended that any items which are already fully “complete” that you just use your review deck. Odds are these are more “done” than you believe
- Now you should have removed many problematic items from your review queue. Time to clear it. Set a daily goal (e.g. 20 items, 50 items or whatever)
- For N3/N2 items, you can choose to remove them during your review queue clear out or, if the N5/N4 crams go well, you can do an N3 cram as well
- Once your review queue is clear, you can start relearning the items you removed from N5 up through N2
I don’t particularly like the “reset the whole deck” method because taking a couple weeks to a month to meticulously use the cram feature to really figure out what you remember and what you don’t will save you from having to repeat cards you do not truly need practice on.
Also, haven’t thought about “Topics” with this, but you might consider working through reading and listening to those before you cram the N5 deck. I’m only about halfway through them, so can’t necessarily recommend them.
Also, be sure to forgive yourself if you’re beating yourself up about it
Edit - forgot to say what to do with the remedial review deck - recommend cramming as much as you can on weekends for a month or two. You can still remove items from the deck / review queue / relearn as you see fit
