Is the 混まない supposed to translate to the “without someone else taking it” part? If so, I’m not sure I get it.
Also, the English sentence shouldn’t start with “to”.

So I suppose the new translation is more accurate, but the sentence (Japanese and English) still doesn’t really make sense logically. How will looking around the parking lot make sure it doesn’t get congested?
In Japan, the majority of parking lots/areas are very compact and a lot of the spaces are quite tight, especially in parking garages. If you are not attentive while driving/parking, you could disrupt the flow of traffic within these areas. I suppose it makes more sense in places like Japan or where parking is very limited. Perhaps this sentence could use some updating. We will see what we can do. Cheers.
