Study Streak is higher than days studied

My study streak has been a day higher than my days studied for a while now, and it’s been bothering me but not enough to ask about it.

It just went up to two days higher now though, and now I must complain!

I don’t have any reviews due, so I did a cram to preserve my streak today (after which it increased to a 2 day difference). I only remember having to do that once before which was probably around the time that the days diverged the first time as well, so maybe cram sessions aren’t being counted towards days studied even though they do count towards study streak?

I got some reviews before the day ended, and now my days studied has increased to 231. I definitely think it’s an issue with cram now.

Hmm…this actually happened to me after vacation mode awhile ago. And I didn’t think about it but now that you mention it, I just did a week vacation mode and it didn’t happen again…maybe it wasn’t actually caused by vacation mode and I just hadn’t noticed til then?

Seems like that still happens:
My streak is at 733 and my days studied at 732. No clue when that missing day occured, because both counters where the same number before. I did have a few days without any reviews in the last weeks and on such days I only did a cramming session = didn’t learn a new grammar point. Though those were more than just one day, so if that’s the sole reason I’d have even less days studied.
I tried to fix it with learning a new grammar point today to get one review for today, but even after doing that, my days studied ist still at 732.

I encountered a similar error today! I remember my study streak was always ahead of my N2 grammar points done by 1 (or maybe it was vice versa), but today they’re the same.

Gonna reply here to your message in the Bug Report thread, @KUROKAT !

But it only seemed to not count the cramming as a day studied once.

Seems unlikely but also definitely possible.
Not gonna tackle the root cause of the issue right now, but I can manually set the Days Studied on your account if you’d like?

Same goes for you @appogiatura

I don’t know why but it happened again today. :sob:

Would you be so kind to fix it again?

Is there any way on my end to prevent that so you don’t have to intervene every time?
I can’t study new grammar points for now (buzy time), so I’m relying on getting reviews due and if there aren’t any, I do a cram session.

Ruh roh…

  1. Did you notice any pattern or action you took or anything like that?
  2. Do you switch between using web and the app at all?

The reason I ask is because my guess is that there is potentially some rare way that you’re using Bunpro that is maybe causing this…

Hm,… there only seems to be the pattern of two days in a row without due reviews where I instead do a quick cram session. Then it seems to stop counting the days studied on the second day.

Other than that and that I did reset my whole progress on Jan 28th this year, I don’t think I use Bunpro differently than anyone else. I am not tech savvy, so I have nothing that messes with the service. Not using a VPN, my few extensions are ad blockers and focus on YT (like unhook) or are userscripts in tampermonkey for WaniKani.
I do use the app very rarely, but I always make sure it syncs with the website.
99.9 % of the time I use the Bunpro website on my PC for my studies.

So my best bet is the situation of 2 days no due reviews in a row not registering the second day of doing cram sessions as a “day studied”, because it now demands a new studied grammar point/actual review?
I don’t think the reset has an impact just because the heatmap now differs from my streak/days studied.

Edit:
Maybe we could test that: I don’t have reviews due for the next two days (did my reviews for today). So I’d expect the days studied counter will be 2 days lower when I did my cram session on the Aug 20th.

For documentation: This is how my stats look after I did my reviews for today.

Tomorrow it should say “streak 830” + “days studied 829”
And the day after “streak 831” + “days studied 829”?
I’ll post a screenshot of these stats for the next two days.

Edit 2:
As expected, today it says 830/829:

Depending on what it says tomorrow with the second day in a row without due reviews, I’ll either update this post again or post a new one tagging you again, Sean.

@Sean Huh, it continued counting the days studied on the second day without due reviews and only doing a cram session.

Now I really don’t know what could cause it.

I may have a fix for it, and will be publishing it soon.
It may have either to do with adding items manually via the old (non Beta) Decks page, or Cramming on Mobile.

If you don’t do either of these, please let me know.
Otherwise the fix will be out in a day or two. Will reply here (if I can remember :crossed_fingers:) so that you can update your Streak one final time

But my “Days studied” is 1 day off, I can’t fix that myself. :sob:
The Streak is correct and counts flawlessly, just the Days Studied decided to not count a day for a second time now since I reset my progress in January.
So I’ll need your help to get that back to what the Streak says.
