Suggestion for Novel Content Moving Forward on Bunpro

As I progress through my Japanese study, I’ve come across various aspects of the language most learners do not encounter until a very high level, that is to say older Japanese (by this I would like to define “older Japanese” as Japanese found before 1946 or modern Japanese that uses historical kana orthography and/or 旧字体 (yes, some people still do use these!)).

Along with this I notice that Bunpro is maturing with the core content (grammar relating to the JLPT) it provides. A while ago, I suggested to Bunpro that it offer a grammar deck in older Japanese, going so far as to say classical (古文) Japanese. While I still would like to see something like that be offered in the distant future, I would like to make a suggestion before any work be done on that affair.

What I would like to suggest moving forward is that if the Bunpro team decides to offer grammar lessons/explanations on older Japanese texts it first starts with the usage rules of 歴史的仮名遣 and the introduction of 旧字体 (舊字體) to the learner. As I am personally somewhat interested in these topics, it would be exciting to see them on a platform such as Bunpro.

Thank you for reading my little composition.

Cheers.
