To welcome the new year, I’m trying something I’ve wanted to do for a while now.

STUDY LOG!! やったー！ :partying_face:

Not exactly sure what to put in study logs or how to format them but here we go! I’m also not familiar with Bunpro’s formatting so excuse the messiness.

Quick Background: I’ve been studying Japanese for 3 years now. 2 years in a classroom and 1 year of self-study. I studied abroad in Japan for 3 weeks in May 2024. I’m not sure what my Japanese level would be, but I’d have to say lower intermediate. I can understand most N5-N4 things. Slow speaking speed is okay for me.

Beginning of 2025 stats

January Goals

  • Finish N5 grammar 108/126
    currently reviewing and not learning new things because I’m struggling a bit with getting some grammar points down
  • Finish reading よつばと１
    reading chapter 3 and embracing a lot of ambiguity but the pictures help me understand the context
  • Write something every day!
    I bought a little 2025 diary when I went to Kinyoukunia so I’m writing about my days in it
  • Mine 20 words a week on Migaku
    When I don’t feel like studying, watching YouTube or listening to podcasts is a fun way to get around my laziness

February Goals

  • Add N4 to study queue if haven’t already 14/177
  • Start reading よつばと２
  • Continuing writing every day
  • Continuing mining words

That’s as far as I’ve thought ahead… anyways

Long-Term Goals 2025 (Semi-Language Related)

  • Get accepted to TUJ
  • Go back/Move to Japan
  • Hold conversation without using English and have more confidence

I’m not exactly sure how I go about updating this log but I’ll figure it out. Most likely monthly updates. Honestly, this is to hold myself accountable on online forums. Thanks for reading and I’ll see you again soon!

一月と二月アップデート

I got into a really bad slump with many things happening in my life over the past few months. 2025 is crazy so far. I won’t go into details why… But studying Japanese seriously kinda took a back seat this month. I still consume Japanese content and text my Japanese friends regularly, I’m just not sitting down and studying flashcards or reviewing grammar points.
I’m still waiting on my admission results for TUJ and if I get accepted, I want to change my focus on saving money for university. Therefore, I’ve canceled my subscriptions for the time being. I might come back.
As far as the goals I set for myself

  • I finished よつばと１

  • I’m still writing in my little diary every day, even if it’s just one sentence.

My next goal is to start reading a new manga. I have a lot of physical books I need to dive into. The hardest part is starting 😮‍💨

Not the update I was expecting to post but life gets in the way sometimes. I’ll come back if I have new news to share (most likely my TUJ admission results).
