時間はとらせん

Hi everyone, I’m trying to crack this expression: ‘時間はとらせん’ that I think shouls mean ‘Don’t waste time/energy’ or something like that. But とらせん really does not ring any bell to me. Is there someone to help me?

Negative causative of 取る.

Normally I’d read it as “it won’t take long”.

Hey there!

Just as @nekoyama has stated it is this grammar point in its abbreviated negative form. The non-abbreviated form of 時間はとらせん, would be 時間はとらせない.

Thanks! I have to get accostumed to the abbreviated forms, that really confuse me often.

Shortening like that is structurally the same as what we often do in English – “Can you get me a water” vs “Can you get me a bottle of water”, “Sup” vs “What is up”, etc.

…But boy is it hard to figure out sometimes, oof.
