Supporting this notion. Been slowly understanding it through immersion but its still a bit odd at times.

Not yet. He was saying that it may get inserted as a fun fact to the already existing というより N3 grammar point.

The message I linked has a list of missing grammar points to be added to bunpro requested by community members. Some points will get their own entry, but if the requested point is already similar to an existing point it will be added on to that point as a “fun fact” snippet. In that list, というか is mentioned to get added to the already existing というより point. These grammar updates will be done in small batches every month or so in the downtime between bigger projects
