Using Marugoto textbook in class, bunpro as well?

I’m taking a Japanese class that uses the Marugoto series of textbooks and joined late so I’m quite behind: we’ve started with A2, whereas I’m basically at zero for grammar. My vocabulary is far ahead of the class as I’ve been doing wanikani for 6 months, so at least that’s a non-issue.

Are there any decks that follow the marugoto textbook progression, so I can follow those on my own time and catch up to the class? I found the official marugoto decks, but they seem to just be the bunpro standard lessons organized in the marugoto order, so it’s unclear to me if they actually cover all the grammar lessons in marugoto or if they’re just “what we have, in the marugoto order, but not necessarily all the grammar lessons from the textbook.”

Just want to make sure I’m loading myself up with the right stuff. Also, is it possible to disable vocabulary lessons in general? I’m letting wanikani handle that, I only want non-vocab lessons from bunpro.

Open to other ideas in general as well. Will be continuing with wanikani + the class no matter what. I just need a way to catch up to the class and retain grammar.

Marugoto is actually designed especially for an online learning environment so there are online courses through the foundation that can be found here: MARUGOTO JAPANESE ONLINE COURSE That might be a useful way to go back over some of the previous grammar to fill in what you’ve missed as you are learning new material.

Thanks, however I actually really, really dislike the marugoto way of teaching and was hoping to use Bunpro along with other resources to get around it and catch up to the class. I still think the class itself is worth it. My plan was to use bunpro SRS + some sort of deck that matches marugoto’s grammar topics (but actually learning from other resources) to catch up.

Gotcha. To be honest, I hate Maruguto’s teaching, too.

There are Bunpro decks for Marugoto Starter (A1), Elementary 1 (A2) and Elementary 2 (A2) that organize the Bunpro grammar and vocab to match the order they are taught in the textbooks. It sounds like that might be what you are looking for? You can find those decks in the Textbooks section of the Decks page.

If you are starting from A2, you could use the A1 deck to see what you need to catch up on and then gradually work through the A2 deck to match the content covered in your class. I found the textbook decks really helpful as I jumped between a few resources. They let me know what I needed to catch up on when I changed books and then helped me review new content in the order I was encountering it in the textbook/class.

I had started by learning basic grammar using the default Bunpro deck, but I began using Marugoto online a bit later as my primary learning resource. I continued to add grammar point in Bunpro from the Marugoto deck so that I could review them and track my learning. When I started a class that was partway through Minna No Nihongo, I was able to add that deck in Bunpro and see what I needed to catch up on before I ever got the textbook, which was very helpful.

Thanks, I did find those decks before, I was just unsure if they were a 1-to-1 match with marugoto. For example, does the “A1 deck” contain all of the grammar lessons/points taught in marugoto A1 textbook, and nothing else? I’m aware that the deck is actually just bunpro grammar, but put in marugoto order, so it’s unclear if it’s an exact match.

Do you know if there is a way to remove all vocab cards as well, or just never see them? I really just want pure marugoto grammar topics, with SRS, and nothing else.

It has been a couple of years since I used it so I don’t remember for sure. I think it was a pretty close match and only had grammar points that were covered in the textbook.

Unfortunately, those decks are not split into grammar and vocab like some of the others, so I am not sure how well it would work if you just want to do the grammar. You can choose to review only grammar or only vocab, but there not is a similar option for the Learn Queue as far as I know. I don’t see a way to filter to view grammar only in the deck either, so manually adding them from there would require scrolling through a bunch of vocab to find the next grammar point.

Honestly at this point if youre just wanting to hit the grammer I would just manually go in and add them as you study them from `goto. Sorry youre using that btw because the series does suck total ass. I went through one book with a japanese teacher and was just powerhousing through it so I could go back to my Genki with her.

Looking at the deck though, yea its all combined. HOWEVER, if you go to the page ( Marugoto Starter (A1) | Bunpro ) and drop down the chapters, the individual grammer points are at the very end of the chapter. Where you can then add them directly to reviews as you study them. That, or make your own personal deck for the grammer.
