Vocab deck default order?

I’ve mainly been using frequency sorting so I can work thru multiple N-levels simultaneously, but now that I’m nearing the end of the N4 deck I realized there’s a handful of expressions with no frequency stat that I’d like to see sooner than at the very end; whicj made me think about whether there’s any logic to the default order of vocab decks like there is with grammar, or if it’s essentially random or simply alphabetical or smth similarly unhelpful (in this specific regard)?

tl;dr For some decks I’m past the usefulness of frequency sort; wondering if default order will continue teaching me more useful stuff (e.g. expressions) first

Yes, it’s a very min-maxy question as I’ll finish the deck in a month or two regardless, but humor my curiosity regardless

I personally haven’t noticed a huge difference in sorting order (and half the time I just pick and choose which words to add myself without bothering with the learn function anyways). Default is definitely not alphabetical considering that’s a sorting option.

Ever since they’ve added the cram feature to vocabulary, I find it more efficient to go in order just since it’s easier to use the cram feature by lesson. I actually just reset my N4 deck so I can cram them all in order to test if it helps with retainability. Though, this will probably serve more as a review (I was almost done the deck) and I won’t have accurate results until moving on to an unknown deck.

If I were you, I’d just continue with frequency if it’s working for you and then go through and manually add the expressions you want to pop up sooner.

That’s pretty much what I’ve been doing the last few days anyway so it works, but I’m still curious :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
