Vocab Deck Suggestion: Most Common Words

I love the decks that are on Bunpro, I review and add anywhere from 10-60 words every day on the n5 and textbook decks. I appreciate that they are listed in order from N5 to N1, however there comes an issue where some very common Japanese words may end up being closer to N1 or N2 than N5 which could cause issues for those of us trying to learn common daily language. I’ve found some lists online about the most common words in newspapers and such, as well as Bunpro already offering in order of Netflix frequency and such.

These orderings are super nice, however they are still split between the N5-N1-A10 categories rather than just purely in order of frequency according to a list. It seems you all already have the orders, would it be viable or possible to create these frequency decks for everyone?

From what I understand coming future, they should be allowing for custom decks and deck sharing between different people so even if they don’t develop that deck themselves, I foresee somebody putting effort into making 1K 2K 5K 10K deck.

Edit: I cannot trust text to speech anymore than my hyper typing lol

This would be cool if it eventually develops, but in the meantime have you checked out the Core 2k/6k decks on Anki? I found them super helpful in laying a foundation! Especially because they also utilize SRS which I’ve found really helps in my success.

I’m not good with anki, it’s far too archaiac for me. I’ve tried it multiple times but gave up after a day or two because it’s very much so uninteresting to me. Thanks for the suggestion, though!

Have you tried Mochi ? It looks better at least and you can just import Anki Decks if you want

it’s more the anki system saying “oh yeah I remember that” without any way to type the answer in leads me to lying to myself saying yeah I knew that.

Anyway- that’s kind of off topic for this suggestion.

You are able to set up Anki (and perhaps Mochi as well, I haven’t used it) to use a Cloze system where you have to type in the result, if you want to get into the weeds of it all and get it working.

This is getting Really off topic, there’s other posts to praise mochi, this is a suggestion for Bunpro…

I think people are just trying to suggest other methods of getting what you’re after, or something similar at least, until Bunpro implements the features themselves.

I see and am aware of that, however that part of the topic was solved about 6 posts ago as of the posting of your reply. That’s why I’m saying it is getting a bit off topic.

Sorry if this is a little bit off topic, but if a mod / dev sees this, I would love the vocab system to be similar to a Chinese learning website called HackChinese - it’s basically a huge database of “all” existing vocab - which can be searched and studied through premade or custom made lists. I haven’t really found anything similar for Japanese, so I thought I’d share this idea

That being said, I’m already enjoying the recent improvements and the introduction of vocab decks in general

Have you seen jpdb.io? Not exactly the same but pretty much what you described. (Sorry for derailing OP)
