Vocab review bug?

I think I read somewhere that the vocab review style was changed to a monolinguistic style. Great. However is there an option to revert back to the manual input/flash card style?

Previously a kanji would be shown and I could type the English translation below this would help me drill lots of vocab quickly suitable for my needs. Now I get a sentence with a blank and an unrelated (sometimes slightly related) word below the sentence for me to guess what the word might be.

It’s as if the vocab reviews have all changed to “cloze” style regardless of my deck settings being set to manual or flashcard. If I am misunderstanding the process could someone help clarify how to achieve the old style for study use?

so here’s how to change it back to manual input or flashcard style: go to “decks,” from there click the vocab deck you are currently working on then hit “deck settings.” scroll down to the bottom, there should be an option for “input style,” simply change that to manual input or flash card. you can then click the button “change all to X style” to change all previous cards to that style.

see the problem here is - my deck settings are already set to manual input. I never changed them. I’ve tried your suggestion and it still only offers a sentence structure input, before it would give me a singular word.

I have the same issue. The only work around I’ve found is I learn my 5 new and once it gets to the quiz portion, I immediately end the session using the button. I then go back to the deck settings and click the change all to manual input again and when I go to learn those same 5 it sets the vocab card back to simple English input. Anyone know of a simpler fix?
