Vocab Review Types

Apologies if this has been posted before. I did do a search, but most of the posts seemed to be posted a while ago when Vocab was in it’s infancy, and it seems things have changed since then.

I don’t fully understand Vocab reviews. I’m powering through the vocab at the moment, and it seems most entries have several context sentences. However, these don’t seem to actually be used anywhere. In my reviews, it just shows the vocab, and I type the answer.

I know in the options under “Reviews” you can change the default review type. I’ve tried all combinations… and they seem to be all the same thing; just show the vocab in Japanese, and you type the answer. No context sentences, no variation of any form.

So, my question is, how do you actually use the context sentences for vocab? As far as I can see, the only way is to turn off lightning mode, type the answer correctly, then scroll down and just leisurely review the sentences?

Also, I recently discovered that if you change your Batch Size it doesn’t affect vocab lessons. They seem to be fixed at 5.

Again, apologies if there’s something obvious I’ve missed.

I’ve actually just reset all my vocab, so I’m working through N5.

Go to the n5 vocab deck settings and adjust the batch from there.

As for reviews, are you clicking the button right underneath the options that say something like “change all reviews to this mode”
