ておく volitional sentence

またそんなバカなことしないで、ちゃんとかんがえておこうね。[考える]

Don’t do something stupid like that again. Think about what you are going to do (in advance). [casual volitional]

Why would you use volitional for this sentence instead of something like て form instead?

Volitional form + ね, like in this case is used to give a suggestion/advice.
It is something you would use when you are angry at your child but trying to play it cool. Or when you are very close to being angry.
It is often used by parents speaking to children, superiors at work etc.
