の方てず vs です

Hey all,
I was wondering if there is a difference between those sentences:
お金を持ってるのは私です。
お金を持ってるのは私の方です。
The second one uses the のはxの方だ N3 point, but is the first one wrong or unnatural perhaps?

The first sentence states a simple fact while the second sentence implies a comparison is being made. I’m not sure whether such a sentence would sound natural in a vacuum, i.e. without, you know, context that would suggest that it is YOU who have money, and not any other person. And both are correct, of course.

I would interpret this as “The person who has money is me”. That’s where the 方 fits in here, as opposed to simply saying “The one who has money is me”.

HTH!
