We ~ら ~たち

Hello there!
Thanks for the website it’s a really big help for my study.
As I’am starting the N4, I’ve just done the lesson on ~ら (we) so i wanted to add ~たち as well since i already know about it. But I can’t find it. The mention of it at the end of ~ら is considered enough?

I suppose they don’t include it since they do the same thing.

Right 俺ら=俺たち

Thats weird I would’ve thought it would be there… even if it means the same. I think in vocab there is 私達 etc but I think they should absolutly have it in grammer too

But why add another grammar point about the same thing? Surely people can remember that much. If BunPro had every permutation of every grammar, we would never finish it, lol.

Theyve done it for heaps of stuff that has the same meaning? Like ほとんど and 大体 both mean mostly. 〜たち is used really often in japanese so it makes sense to learn it. Even just adding it as the formal version of ら in the same question would work.

Yes, which is why I don’t think we need more grammar points when they can be included in the description box. That said, there is a slight difference between ほとんど and 大体, though it’s not much.

On the other hand, there are missing grammar points that we legit need in BunPro, which have been brought up in the past.

おはようございます。

I’ve just looked at the grammar point on ら and see that, in the Caution box, there is a reference to 達, to wit:
“Because ら has a literal meaning that is close to ‘(A) etc’, or ‘(A) and so on’, it may sometimes be considered a bit rude (due to being dismissive). Because of this, it is recommended to not use this suffix in relation to people, unless it is absolutely essential to indicate plural. In most cases, たち will be a far better choice.”

It looks like nobody linked it yet, but there is a vocabulary entry for 達.

Thanks, i’ve only watch the grammar lesson, didn’t think about the vocab.

Yeah i would’ve thought they would teach たち first…

Yeah, it’s a rough/causal way of speaking.

Also since it’s basically just a suffix, maybe these are better suited to vocab rather than grammar lessons. But we are really splitting hairs at that point.

I feel personally conflicted about the inclusion of prefixes/suffixes (especially the compound verb ones) in the Bunpro grammar path but I have always chalked it up to them appearing as the subject of questions on the JLPT, presumably.
