I understand that the hint looks confusing when read in isolation, but it’s really not that strange. “Okage” or “kage” simply means shade. The word can actually be used to mean shade, no problem. It can also be used to express “thanks to…”, such as in “Anata no okage de”/“Thanks to you”. Bunpro’s writeup simply covers both the literal and the figurative usage. I think it works.
