strangely though i think an english speaker from england might say this and it’s somehow grammatical to them!

the privilege of being a native speaker is that we can mangle our own language and call it a dialectical difference but when someone else does it it’s a mistake 
I find it interesting though because we tend to become hyper aware of potential grammar mistakes when we perceive someone might not be a native speaker. I think it’s kind of a pity in a way 'cause native speakers rarely speak “correctly” either
