What is "to" doing in this sentence?

部屋が寒いと感じる.

There are a few sentences in the Kanjiru entry that use “to” and I’m not sure what it’s doing.

Any help or advice!?

I think here it’s used as the “quotation” marker, but “quotation” is to take in a larger sense than in english. Here you feel something, what do you feel? You feel the affirmation “the room is cold”. It’s as if you’re presenting a sentence that asserts something (“the room is cold”), then say that you feel what this sentence is saying.

it’s the same と as in と思う or と言う. If you replace と感じる in the sentence it would make “I think the room is cold”, “i say the room is cold” “I feel the room is cold”.

So as the previous poster said, it’s like the quotation particle.
