Hi, I just got to the second lesson on ところだった and as far as I can tell it more or less is the same as the original lesson.
Can someone help me understand if I’m missing some nuance or something important, or if they really are the same?

These are indeed the same. Will shuffle around the sentences used a bit and make sure the important parts of the description are covered for both the positive and negative usages and get it condensed into one grammar point
