What's your accuracy?

Mine seems pretty bad, averaging about 60%. I’ve stopped doing lessons for a bit to consolidate. I’m about a third of the way through N4.

I haven’t done a whole lot of reviews yet though

I recommend using mnemonic system. Like memory palace.

What’s that. I know Sherlock Holmes says it a lot but it sounds too good to be true. Can u direct me to an explanation of a irl (not Sherlock Holmes sci-fi) version?

It is very simple, and actually works more or less the way that appeared in “Sherlock”.

It is based on the fact, that memory used to remember locations is much stronger and primal than other kinds of memory.

Assuming you want to memorize word: 景気
In simple words, you imagine you entering to your room, or place you know, assuming you enter your room and there is a wardrobe, you open the wardrobe and there is a cake in poor condition. Well thats all, just imagine it using images rather than words and you will see how fast it sticks.

I started with Bunpro a few days after they announced it in the WK forum last year. Since then I always had the feeling that the SRS needs some improvement cause the grammar just didn’t stick. The SRS intervalls where to long and I forgot everything very quickly. This is still the case and I’m quite disappointed with my accuracy. In comparison my WK accuracy:

This has was always been bewteen 98% and 99% so I guess their SRS is more balanced. That also means that WK reviews are much more fun because you get encouraged by the good accuracy. Bunpro is more stress and disappointment and I really hope for an overhaul of the SRS. (I know, it’s unfair to compare Kanji reviews with grammar reviews)

Maybe the reviews need to be closer together, but I personally find Bunpro more enjoyable than Wanikani even if I get lower scores.

I think remembering words and grammar is not really comparable and therefor having a vastly different accuracy isn’t bad.

Grammar often is not a concrete think like a word and can have a vast amount of different meanings depending on the context, often even the way someone says is.

There are more layers of complexity to grammar, like rules and so on, so it’s no wonder it’s harder to remember

I wouldn’t worry to much about it, it will sort out with practice.

I think one of the biggest things affecting accuracy is that since the sentence changes as you progress, you are being exposed to new situations each time, which will naturally lead to a higher percentage of mistakes. Something like seeing 公園 and needing to input こうえん is the same every time.

That being said, we are keeping an eye on the data and will be gradually making minor adjustments and adding a couple of features to help cement the grammar in your mind, which should help increase your accuracy.
