Where are the conjugations of -i adjectives?

Hi. I’m looking to add some reviews of the past tense of adjectives but I can’t seem to find them in the guide. For example: 。。。おもしろかったです。or …たべものはたくなかったです or これはよくない。

Am i just looking in the wrong spot?

Thanks

I-adjective conjugation is relatively simple. Just watch out for いい・よくない・よかった・よくなかった

Also, these are the adjective grammar points.

Neither of those grammar points mentions past tense or negatives. い-adjectives conjugation might not be that difficult, but it’s still really weird that it’s seemingly not taught in the course at all (except for the いい exception, funnily enough).

I’ve only started with Bunpro recently and I already know about い-adjectives from elsewhere, but now I wonder what other important topics will be completely left out from here…

They are not left out, you just need to refine the glossary search:

Alright, so there’s だったじゃない and じゃなかった, that covers nouns and な-adjectives. I still couldn’t find the same for い-adjectives, though, only the positive present.

And sure, I know that the external reading covers those, but it still seems like a glaring omission, and as a result they probably can’t appear in reviews either.

I agree, that is a simple grammar point to overlook. I know the same conjugations are in the いい point but not everyone would understand that. There was talk to making the site more ‘beginner friendly’ in an older thread. @Pushindawood, is there an entry we are not seeing or will this be added?

@keirbhaltair Thank you for your post. You are absolutely right that we do not currently cover い-adjectives as thoroughly as we should. We have plans break up some existing grammar points into more digestible chunks. These include grammar points that can have multiple meanings depending on context or where they appear in a sentence and things like い-adjectives that do not yet have all conjugations completely covered. Thank you for your patience as we expand on these areas. Cheers!

Any update on this? Would love the add the negative present of い-adjectives to my reviews.

I didn’t pay attention but I could swear they appear from time to time.

But even if not it is very simple: transform い-adjective to connective form (that with く at the end) and add helper word ない (adjective for non existence). Pro tip: in Japanese negative forms of verb are just い-adjectives and they behave exactly in the same way as normal adjectives. That realisation saves you time memorising half of conjugations for verbs if you know it for adjectives already.

That page is amazing! so simple, but so useful.

I’ve been looking for something like it to drill all the forms (that I know so far) of conjugations of verbs and adjectives as its still so confusing for me, so this kind of basic repetition is perfect.
