Would you rather?

This is just a pointless thought experiment that could only exist in a vaccuum, but curious to gauge people’s opinions.

If you had to choose, would you rather have perfect mastery over N5+N4 level grammar and never be able to use N3,N2,N1 level grammar, or just superficial knowledge of N5-N1 where it’s evenly distributed throughout.

If it’s superficial in quality, in the sense that mistakes will be made often and that i will never be sure that i’m using the grammar point correctly then i would rather master N5+N4

If it’s superficial in quantity, i would choose N5 through N1 since there is probably a lot of grammar point that do the same thing and i’ll still have a good range of complexity

The latter. I’d rather be able to talk like an adult who makes mistakes than talk like a toddler who doesn’t make mistakes.

but haruto, I already have superficial knowledge of N5-N1

It’s much easier to communicate with Japanese people if you have a bad N5-N1 ability than the perfect N5-N4, so I’d definitely choose the latter option
