I’ve been getting the structure wrong for both of these grammar points. Mainly because I keep forgetting whether I need の or は in the front. I mistake は as the one that must be in the front rather than の, when really it could be replaced with も。

I think the problem stems from the fact that I don’t really understand why these grammar points are structured like this. What is the の and the は・も doing? Is the の an explanatory の？I get the は but is も showing that something is “also” natural? I’m not sure why it is interchangeable like this.

The の is nominalizer.

The も, in this case, can be either, (depending on context):

  • also
  • emphasis (even, etc)

I understand の nominalizes Verbs but what about for い/な Adjectives in this context? Is it acting as an indefinite pronoun?

Actually, adjectives can also be nominalized with の (and こと). :+1:
