Bunpro Mobile App - Major Update

Can you please add a button to cycle through hints when you get a correct answer since I like to test my translation of the sentence.

Also, when you do change level of hints, can it be reset to your default for the next question, it seems to carry over and can spoil the next question if you have the full translation active from the previous question.
Cheers

When you make a mistake and tap on the answer to fix it, characters typed in the middle of the answer are not converted to kana. This is quite annoying when you make many typos.

Also, what’s does a guy have to do to get the Supporter badge? :eyes:

Version 0.3.3+46

Native Study Support:

You are now able to use the study feature natively, to access it you have to open the menu in the dashboard and tap on the native study button.

Vertical Reading
It is now possible to toggle vertical mode for the reading passages. To see the reading of the kanji, you have to tap on it.

Flashcard mode
If you are using decks, and have enabled the “flashcard mode” for vocabulary, then you will be able to use correct/incorrect buttons instead of the text field.

Split reviews
It is now possible to review vocabulary and grammar separately. The mode can be enabled in settings.

Other changes and bug fixes

  • the downloading indicator has been added to the dashboard screen to notify whenever data is downloading
  • the bug when app proceeding directly to results after the last review has been fixed
  • search function should provide better results than before
  • fixed the bug when past activity chart data was assigned to the wrong days
  • fixed the bug that made it impossible to see the number of reviews when tapping on the chart
  • the kana conversion should be working correctly in reviews, even if one changes character in the middle of the sentence
  • it is now allowed to not convert the last n in the answer to Japanese ん to speed up reviews (so たくさn is allowed as an answer)
  • The hint resets to the user default after every review like on the website
  • due notifications should be now working properly with native reviews
  • in reading passages, the furigana should now work as expected, when “Hide Furigana” mode is enabled
  • iOS only: the keyboard in dark mode uses the dark coloring
  • fixed the “no email client” bug when trying to send a bug report

Thanks to the feedback we received in emails, bug reports, and comments as we were able to fix some bugs and add new features. Thank you so much!

Feel free to write as much feedback as you want, we look at all of it, and are using it to make the app more user-friendly by the day!

  1. How about the bug about the app proceeding directly to results rather than showing the green modal?

  2. And do you think you’ll be implementing the possibility to see the translation with a tap or automatically after a review is answered correctly?

  3. When cloze vocab is released (hopefully very soon) is the app ready for it or will further changes be required?

  4. The color scheme is too dark in dark mode. For instance, if all your items are Adept, it’s hard to see where the bar ends.

  5. Last Session statistics are slow to update on the dashboard.

Edit: 1. Is fixed.

this update was great, and I loved how things I said here on the forum were taken into account . Just one problem I would like to report: when I enter the decks to study vocabulary, an account creation screen appears, and therefore I cannot study new vocabulary. Other than that, the app is great!

one other thing: the vocabulary flashcards are only showing the front part of the cards, not showing the meaning

WaniKani API furigana bug is still present ever since native reviews were introduced. API key is imported correctly and works as it did on the website, but all furigana show within the app.

In the Android app, the くれる grammar point’s example sentences are showing HTML tags. This is only the case for the native lessons.

Appreciate the update, though my review hints are still not reverting to the default setting when I go to the next review.

Additionally, I’m also still experiencing the issue with the furigana not being hidden based on my wanikani account.

In the Android app, many of the まず grammar point’s example sentences are showing html code linking to other grammar points. This is only the case for Native Study.

The html tags bug should be fixed with the update coming this weekend.

I will fix the wanikani bug after we do some internal changes, not sure how fast it will happen :bowing_man:

Will you be incorporating cloze for vocab in the next update?

The progress bar at the top, in reviews, does not match the actual progress. The bar fills up way before I reach the end of the queue.

Cloze will be implemented, but not sure whether or not with next update. Will try though :+1:

Added to the to-do list.

Is it possible to change the playback speed in the (iOS) app?

In Native Study, the grammar point in the header doesn’t always match the one that’s actually being studied.

Thanks for the bug report, will look into it!

Two bugs that still exist:

  1. The graphs are still wrong.
  2. The carousel button for the Hints resets in every review (as it should), but the actual Hint does not reset. So if I cycle through to the full translation, and then move to the next review, the button shows the dot in the right place, but the Hint on the new question is still the full translation.

Also, can we have an Anki Mode?

@VegasVed

The amount of reviews does not match? Or the day is wrong?

I see! Thanks for the report, will look into this.

Anki mode is already in the app, but it will work only if you have enabled deck on the website, and set the vocab review to anki mode.

Cheers!
